Day 1 - Depart Chicago and take an overnight flight across the Atlantic. Enjoy in-flight entertainment and meal service as you travel to Ireland.
Day 2 - After landing at Dublin airport, complete customs and immigration formalities. Your CIE drive/guide will welcome you and escort you to the coach. Next, stop for a traditional Irish breakfast at a local restaurant or pub with your group. Continue your journey through Ireland's green pastures, passing through many market towns and into the beautiful city of Belfast. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and settle into your room. In the eveing join your fellow travelers at the hotel for a welcome get-together drink and dinner. Afterwards you are free to enjoy Belfast at your own pace. Over night Europa hotel, Belfast.
Day 3 - After a hearty Irish breakfast, embrk on a guided tour of Belfast to see the Albert Memorial, the Opera House and Crown Liquor Saloon. In Donegall Square view the imposing City Hall completed in 1906. The richly decoated interior contains stained glass portraying Belfast's principal industries. The Titanic Quarter, visit Titanic Belfast to embark on a journey through the life of the Titanic, from her conception in Belfast to her tragic end. Return to your hotel and spend the balance of the day free to relax, sightsee shop and dine on your own. Overnight Europa Hotel, Belfast.
Day 4 - Today stop to visit the Giant's Causeway, an impressive area of hexagonal columns formed over 60 million years ago by cooling lava which has given rise to many legends. Continue your drive into the historical city of Derry and join a local guide for a walking tour around the ancient city to see the Guildhall, St Columb's Cathedral, the Diamond and the 16th century walls. Drive a short distance to your hotel. In the evening, meet your group in the hotel restaurant for an authentic Irish dinner. Dinner & overnight City Hotel, Derry
Day 5 - This morning enjoy a sightseeing tour around County Donegal which is renowned for woolen production and tweeds. Next stop at the Belleek Pottery Factory to see how skilled craftspeople form and decorate clay to produce delicate porcelain masterpieces. Stop to visit Ballintubber Abbey whuich is known as 'the Abbey that refused to die'. The abbey has the unique status of being Ireland's only royal Abbey, which has been in continuous use for more that 780 years. Journey along through Ireland's green pastures and into the bustling city of Galway and check into hotel. In the evening, join your group for dinner at the hotel restaurant. Day 6 - After a wholesome Irish breakfast, travel through the Connemara Region to admire the sweeping views of boglands and misty mountains. As you drive along, you will see many sheep that graze freely and also tracts of bogland where some people cut peat for home heating. Continue your journey into the Village of Cong and embark on a walking tour of Cong, a place made famous by the 1952 movie 'The Quiet Man'. Discover places featured in the movie and see some of the movie memorabilia in the Quiet Man Heritage Cottage. Return to Galway and join a local guide for a gentle walking tour of Galway. See the medieval city walls, Lynch's Castle and the narrow streets. Return to your hotel where the remainder of the day is free for individual pursuits and dining options. Day 7 - Today drive along the coast of scenic County Clar to visit the Cliffs of Moher, one of Ireland's most beloved,natural landmarks. See magical vistas, overlooking the shimmering Atlantic Ocean along with Irland's Western coastline. Then take a short ferry ride across the River Shannon Estuary. Day 8 - This morning, take a horse drawn jaunting car ride through the grounds of the Killarney National Park. Then discover the beauties of the Dingle Peninsula once described by the National Geographic Traveler as the 'most beautiful place on earth'. Drive along the south shore of the peninsula for plenty of vistas of heathery mountains, sandy stretches of beach, stunning green landscapes and rocky headlands. Pause at strategic locations to admire the views and take photos. Return to Killarney where the remainder of the day is at your leisure Overnight Scotts Hotel, Killarney
Day 9 - After a hearty breakfast, set off to explore a section of the breathtaking Ring of Kerry The scenic drive will take you to plenty of stops at strategic locations, where you can take photos. Along the way travel through Kenmar before payusing at Moll's Gap which overlooks the three lakes. Continue to Ladies' View for more spectacular view of battlements of Blarney Castle and kiss the famous 'Stone of Eloquence'. Also visit the Blarney Woollen Mills which has an excellent range of Irish products of all types You will also have time to roam around the village, charmingly set around a large village green. Day 10 - Drive through the rolling hills and ruggest countryside of Ireland and into Waterford. Upon arrival, add a bit of sparkle to your day by touring the House of Waterfod Crystal to learn about glass blowing, curring and see one-of-a-kind masterpeices. Then continue your journey through the Wicklow Mountains for a guided tour around the Jamisons Brewery. Journey along into the metropolitan area of Dublin and check into your hotel where the remainder of the day is free for independent activities and dining options Overnight Camden Court Hotel, Dublin
Day 11- After breakfast, set off with a local guide around Dublin. The city has been molded through the centuries with many architectural styles, reflecting the economic, political and artistic influences. Stop to tour Guiness Storehouse to see exhibits on how this world famous stout was first created and why it is so popular today. Finish your visit in the roof-top-bar where you can sample a draft of Guiness. Stop at Trinity College to see the Book of Kells, an 8th Century illuminated manuscript of the gospels and see the Old Library. Return to your hotel and spend the balance of the afternoon free to relax, sightsee or shop on your own before a festive evening. Day 12 - Tranfer to Dublin Airport to check in for your flight. You may do some last minute shopping at the duty free stores before boarding your flight back to Chicago.
